Warehouse The Five Continents

Former ENTRANCE BUILDING 'The Five Continents' was originally intended for the duty-free storage of transit goods. Built between 1875-1879 in utilitarian eclectic architectural style on the initiative of L. Pincoffs and H.A. Then-Bergh, the directors of the Rotterdamsche Handels Vereeniging (R.H.V.), founded in 1872, after a design by the architectural firm G.J. More and Co. In 1997 the building was redeveloped into a complex with luxury homes, offices, shops and a marina. The original character of this national monument has been combined with modern materials. Elements such as old steel beams, original masonry combined with transparent glass elevators, inner galleries and a glass atrium make this building a unique complex of historical value.
