We rented out our flat through Interhouse Utrecht for five years. Overall, we were satisfied. However, when our flat was let by a company that let several properties through Interhouse, we noticed that our interests as landlords were being compromised. We noticed that Interhouse did not respond strictly to the tenant regarding the monthly rent payments (which were not always made on time). Even when our last tenant gave notice and we decided to sell, Interhouse lacked customer focus. The final inspection was “rushed”, defects were either overlooked (leaking drain in the kitchen) or excused (holes in the floor caused by sharp chair legs were classified by Interhouse as “normal signs of wear and tear”). We had to make an effort to have the obvious defects repaired. And even then, we were ultimately left with defects that were never resolved and for which no compensation was ever paid.
