This depends on the individual property and municipality. It may be that use of a (private) parking space or car park was agreed when you arranged rental of the property.
The most common situations are:
- Free parking on the street
- Paid parking on the street
- Parking on the street with a permit/exemption
- An allocated parking space in a (private) garage or (secure) car park
- A non-allocated parking space in a (secure) car park
- A private garage
These are just a few examples. We recommend that you consult your tenancy agreement and municipal website for more information or contact the office at which you rented the property.
If a property has its own private parking space but you haven’t rented it along with the property, the landlord is entitled to let this separately. In many cases you then won’t be able to apply for a parking permit because the property includes a parking space.
